Everyone needs other people, but not everyone has someone. Befriending offers supportive, reliable relationships through volunteer befrienders to people who would otherwise be socially isolated.

Befriending Networks envisages a society which values befriending and recognises its importance, and where everyone who needs it has access to befriending support.

As a third sector intermediary, we provide support, resources, training, networking, a quality award, and a representative voice on a national level for befriending organisations throughout the UK and beyond.

For those experiencing loneliness or those wanting to become a volunteer befriender, search our online directory for information about our members’ befriending projects local to you.

For existing or new befriending projects, our membership facilitates opportunities to connect, share experiences and learn best practices.
