Established in 2003 to look after the interests and well-being of all older people (over 50) in Cambridge and Cambridgeshire, membership is free and at present there are 2,600 members in the County. It campaigns on their behalf when their needs are not catered for eg loss of free BBC Licence, Banks & P.Os closing and ATMs being lost, Bus services being axed, and making access to services available only via digital means. Above all reducing loneliness among older people. COPE sends to all members a 20 page bimonthly Newsletter, and arranges monthly outings and events, lunches and social meetings. It carries out annual surveys of its members to identify problems and needs.
