At Contact the Elderly, we encourage volunteers to spend a little time every month to make the older people in their community feel connected and valued. Once we are over 75, we can start losing our links to the outside world and, before we know it, our only contact is with people who are looking after our health and care needs. At Contact the Elderly we focus on making sure that there is still the chance to make and keep friends and enjoy a social life even when it feels like everyone we used to know has gone.
Our social groups are in communities across the country and bring real pleasure to people who, after long busy lives, simply need connections for conversation and laughter and, crucially, something to look forward to. Our volunteers make cherished relationships and 90% of them say that volunteering with us has had a positive impact on their lives.
