Creative Arts East is an arts and community development charity committed to bringing the very best arts and cultural activities to rural and/or under-engaged audiences across Norfolk, Suffolk and the wider eastern region. We aim to use the transformative power of the arts to fight rural and social isolation; increase enjoyment, skills, health and wellbeing; broaden horizons and ambitions; and make a positive difference to the lives of people living in rural communities.
We achieve this by helping people access and engage with high-quality arts experiences, including live performances, cinema screenings, creative workshops and training sessions.
A key aspect of our work is the Our Day Out Project, funded by the Spirit of 2012 Trust alongside contributions from Norfolk County Council, Breckland Council and North Norfolk District Council. We run free regular workshops across Norfolk that help older people (including carers, those living with a dementia and other long-term health conditions) engage and participate in high-quality music and dance activities. This programme has a hugely positive impact in terms of improving wellbeing and decreasing loneliness and isolation amongst our participants, who represent some of the most vulnerable people in our society. The sessions run twice-monthly in: Attleborough, Dereham, Thetford, Watton, North Walsham, and Wells-next-the-sea.
