Edberts House is a thriving community charity that is currently managing three community projects based in East Gateshead: Edberts House, Pattinson House and our Community Linking Project. We work together with local residents of all ages to make our communities happier, healthier and more welcoming places to live. Over the past three years our Community Linking Project has contributed to the health and wellbeing of patients in East Gateshead through social prescribing, ensuring our team of Community Link Workers are able to support patients with non-medical issues by being embedded within the practice team.
Community Link Workers have a background in community work, health, social care or information and advice and are well placed to support patients with underlying issues that can lead to increased loneliness or isolation.
We have built up a strong evidence base of the work in the East of Gateshead, extending into South Gateshead in 2018 and more recently into Outer West Gateshead, currently with link worker support available in 13 surgeries across the borough.
