FirstLight Trust rehabilitates those leaving and those who have left the Armed Forces and Emergency Services back into their communities, whatever that looks like for each individual.
The hubs at FirstLight Trust are like nothing else currently available, they provide a welcoming and safe environment for those who have not received the much-needed support they require. They provide soft support for those waiting to be treated for more complex matters. The inclusive space offered at the hubs helps to tackle loneliness and aims to prevent mental health issues from forming or increasing. They play an important role in preventing complex issues from developing, by recognising the need to tackle early signs of anxiety and depression.
Everyone is welcome in the hubs, and there are workshops and classes available to children and families. The hubs focus not only on complex issues by providing support, such as therapy, but they have enabled FirstLight to identify what’s necessary for recovery in the long-term, which often requires looking at smaller or contributory issues that can develop into more complex matters, and which are often missed. Part of the road to recovery is acknowledging and treating all these elements in a safe and inclusive environment, which is what our hubs offer.
FirstLight Trust has and continues to fine-tune the delivery of such support and services to those who have ‘fallen through the net’ whilst increasingly, as each hub beds into its community, supporting those who have not yet reached these stages.
