Westminster Befriend a Family supports isolated families and young people at risk of social exclusion, combatting loneliness with volunteer power.  Broadening Horizons is our mentoring programme in which we match young people aged 10 – 18 with experienced mentors who work with them for two hours every week for six months, to build confidence, achieve personal and educational goals and to improve community connections for health and wellbeing. We offer a work experience or higher education exposure opportunity to boost employability prospects.

Our Befriending programme supports families that may be struggling with social, emotional or practical challenges.  Matching a family member with a trained, supervised volunteer offering support for six months, we reduce isolation through regular weekly visits, using our tailored signposting and referral system that connects people with their community in lasting solutions.  Our Mother’s Support Group is a peer support network, enabling mums to build social capital in a supportive, safe space.

Our services are free of charge and available to everyone, we take self-referrals and referrals from specialist services in support of social prescribing and Early Help strategies. https://www.befriendafamily.co.uk/need_our_support/

We’re always looking for volunteer befrienders and mentors, as well as people with skills in fundraising and communications to help us deliver our mission – get in touch if you’d like to know more admin@befriendafamily.co.uk
