Let's Talk Loneliness Let's Talk Loneliness
It’s ok to feel lonely, particularly at a time like this. Don’t suffer in silence, we can all help each other stay connected.

Asda – Delivering kindness

Home shopping drivers at Asda Strabane are always happy to chat to lonely customers. Darragh and his colleagues at the store in Northern Ireland know that stopping to chat to some of their customers who may otherwise be on their own may just make their day.

Darragh, who’s worked at the store for six years, is backing our Delivering Christmas Kindness initiative. He said:

“We have quite a few elderly customers who we see regularly who are on their own and the only people they see at the moment are possibly us drivers or their carers. I always like to take time for a chat and just ask them how they are and hows their day been or even talk about the weather. It doesn’t cost anything to be friendly, smile and have a conversation.”

As part of the initiative, delivery drivers have the option of wearing a ‘Happy to Chat’ badge to let customers who may otherwise be lonely or isolated know they have time for them.

Sandra, the store’s e-commerce trading manager, said:

“It’s so nice for people who are on their own to see a familiar friendly face and all our drivers are more than happy to stop for a chat.”
