It’s ok to feel lonely, particularly at a time like this. Don’t suffer in silence, we can all help each other stay connected.

#PinYourThanks | Martin and Janice’s story

#PinYourThanks is a not-for-profit initiative set up mid-pandemic to recognise and say a big thank you to anyone who has made a difference to their community by helping someone in need of support during these difficult past few months. This could be a delivery driver, nursery worker, teacher, care home worker, nurse, neighbour, postman, family member etc…

The thank you comes in the shape of beautiful pin badges designed by some of the leading lights of UK art, entertainment, and sport – including Keira Knightley, Ringo Starr, Joe Lycett, David James, Emeli Sandé, Dame Sarah Storey, Anoushka Shankar and Ian Berry.

All profits go to Volunteering Matters and NHS Charities Together.

Martin and Janice Magookin were gifted a #PinYourThanks badge by their friends.

Martin and Janet Magookin

Thank you Martin and Janice. Somehow you find so much time for others. During the lockdown you brought lots of friends together for bingo, quizzes and virtual horse racing, ensuring that no-one felt left alone. Even before coronavirus you have both contributed so much to the community that we live in by putting on darts competitions and extending your love to others.

We have all faced some really difficult times this year but the support you have given others and the joy you bring to people’s lives has made things so much easier to deal with. It has been so important during this pandemic to make sure people don’t feel alone and you’ve demonstrated how small gestures can make a big difference.

As soon as we heard about ‘Pin Your Thanks’ we naturally thought of you. So on behalf of all the people who you have affected so positively over the years, but in particular during lockdown, we thank you and send you our love.
